2. How we use it
To run the service and send what you asked for; to improve the shows and the site; to keep the service secure and stop abuse; and to meet legal duties. We do not use your information for advertising and we do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects by automated means.
3. Who we share it with
Only service providers who work for us under contract, such as cloud hosting, email and text delivery, and (later) payment processing. They may use it only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business (you would be told). We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font downloads.
4. How long we keep it
Sign-up details: while you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe we keep only your address on a do-not-send list so we never email you by mistake. Site-use records: up to 90 days. Consent records: as long as we need to show you agreed. Feedback: until you ask us to delete it.
5. Cookies and this device
We do not use advertising cookies. The site stores a few small items on your own device (browser storage): your privacy choice, the place you stopped listening (so "Resume" works), and whether you have signed up (so we don't ask again). You can clear them in your browser settings at any time.
6. Your choices
In the US we count visits to improve the site, as described above. You can switch this off for this device:
Don’t count my visitsIf your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat it as a no automatically. Visitors in Europe and the UK are asked first.
Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email. Texts: reply STOP.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to send you a copy. Use our contact form and give the email address you signed up with. We reply within 30 days (45 where state law allows) and may need to confirm it is you. You can appeal a decision by replying to our answer with "Appeal" in the subject. We never treat you differently for using your rights.
8. California privacy rights
If you live in California (CCPA as amended by the CPRA): in the last 12 months we collected identifiers (email, phone, IP address), internet activity (site use), approximate location (city level) and inferences about which shows you like, for the purposes in section 2, from you and your device. We disclosed them only to service providers. We have not sold or shared personal information, including of anyone under 16. We do not use sensitive personal information. You have the right to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit use of sensitive information, and not be discriminated against. You can use an authorised agent; we may ask for proof of their authority. To make a request, use our contact form. Residents of other US states with privacy laws (for example Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas) have similar rights and can use the same address.
9. Europe and the UK
We process your information to provide the service you asked for (contract), with your consent (emails, texts and visit counting, which you can withdraw at any time), and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure. Your information is stored in the United States. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Security
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who need it, and secrets are kept in managed key stores. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
11. Children
The service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we will delete it.
12. Changes
We update the date at the top when this policy changes and tell signed-up readers by email before important changes apply.
13. Contact
