Oracle's business software is coming to ChatGPT and Codex, with a small-firm credit plan
Oracle and OpenAI are linking ChatGPT and Codex to Oracle's business systems, and small firms can get $12,000 a year in cloud credits.
The short version
- Oracle AI Workspace joins AI models and business systems in one place, reached through a ChatGPT plugin.
- Oracle AI Security Mesh is a managed service that finds and helps fix software weaknesses.
- Oracle App Composer lets people without coding skills build and maintain apps with Codex.
- The Oracle AI SMB Bundle gives small firms $12,000 a year in Oracle cloud credits.
- Company rules, approval steps and access controls stay in force, and terms and limits apply.
Why it matters
If your company's finance, records or HR tools run on Oracle, an assistant that can act across them could cut a lot of switching between screens. If you don't use Oracle, little changes for you yet. Anyone giving an AI agent access to business systems should first ask what it may do and who can review its actions.
What Oracle announced
As kn.itmedia.co.jp reported, Oracle is widening its partnership with OpenAI. OpenAI's models, ChatGPT and Codex (OpenAI's coding agent) will connect to Oracle's applications, data and cloud infrastructure.
The aim is for AI agents, meaning programs that carry out multi-step jobs, to work directly inside Oracle's applications and databases. The new products fall into four areas: running business tasks, security, app building and support for small firms.
Three new tools
Oracle AI Workspace puts an AI model and business systems in one working space. Through a ChatGPT plugin, employees can look up information and run approved work steps. It can connect to Oracle Fusion Applications, NetSuite, Oracle AI Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Company rules, approval steps and access controls stay in place.
Oracle AI Security Mesh is a managed service. It pairs OpenAI's cybersecurity model with Oracle's testing tools to find and fix weaknesses in applications. Customers choose what may be tested and how far the testing goes. Oracle manages protections meant to lower the risk of outages during testing.
Oracle App Composer lets people build and maintain apps with Codex without coding expertise. Oracle handles deployment and running on its cloud, and the apps use approved data and work steps.
The small-business bundle
The Oracle AI SMB Bundle starts free. It includes $12,000 a year in Oracle cloud credits. It also covers ChatGPT Business, Oracle AI Workspace, Codex, Oracle App Composer and NetSuite QuickStart, a base for billing and cash flow.
Credits are not cash, and the report says terms, conditions and limits apply. It does not say who qualifies or what happens when the credits run out.
What to ask before you rely on it
This is a distribution deal as much as a technology one. It puts OpenAI's tools in front of companies that already run their operations on Oracle.
The report describes the plans, not results. Test the permissions and review trail on a small task before trusting an agent with live records.
What to watch
- What terms, eligibility rules and expiry apply to the cloud credits?
- How well do agents perform on real Oracle workloads, and what do customers report?
Try it
If your company uses Oracle tools, ask your IT contact whether the ChatGPT plugin is available and which actions an agent could take with your data.
