Former GitHub CEO launches platform to replace pull requests with AI scores
Entire is launching a new code hosting service designed to handle the massive volume of code generated by AI agents, which currently overwhelms human reviewers.
The short version
- Entire is a new platform for hosting, reviewing, and shipping code specifically built for AI agents.
- The service replaces traditional pull requests with 'Trails,' a dashboard of scores from multiple AI agents.
- The company claims its service can handle up to 89 times as many code pushes per second as GitHub.
- Entire received $60 million in seed funding from investors including Microsoft's venture arm, M12.
- The platform includes 'Continuous Memory' to help AI agents find context from past coding sessions.
Why it matters
As AI agents begin writing code faster than humans can read it, traditional review methods are breaking down. This shift toward automated scoring could fundamentally change how software is built and verified.
A new home for AI code
Thomas Dohmke, the former CEO of GitHub, has launched a new startup called Entire. The company is introducing a service it calls a 'Git forge' to host, review, and ship code. This platform is specifically designed for teams that use AI agents to write software at speeds that exceed human review capabilities.
The move comes as the industry struggles with the sheer volume of code being produced by automated tools. While GitHub has been the standard for years, Dohmke argues that the traditional way of proposing changes is no longer sufficient for the AI era. Entire aims to provide a dedicated infrastructure where AI agents can operate without creating a backlog for human engineers.
The startup is already gaining significant backing from major players in the tech ecosystem. Microsoft’s venture arm, M12, was one of the backers of the company's $60 million seed round. The funding also included participation from Felicis, Madrona, Basis Set Ventures, and individual investors like Jerry Yang and Garry Tan.
Moving beyond the pull request
The most significant technical change in Entire is a feature called Trails. This replaces the traditional pull request, which is the standard method developers use to propose and review code changes. Dohmke noted that pull requests have essentially become audit logs that only the AI agents actually read.
Instead of a human developer having to read through every single line of a new update, Entire provides a dashboard of scores. Multiple AI agents evaluate the quality of each change and provide a score to the human team. This allows developers to merge code based on these scores rather than manual inspection, provided the code passes automated tests or receives a final human sign-off.
To support this workflow, Entire is also introducing a feature called Continuous Memory. This tool allows AI agents to search through past coding sessions to find the context behind earlier changes. One part of this system, which creates a map of the codebase, reportedly cut token use by up to 71% during testing.
Scaling for the AI era
Entire is positioning itself as a high-performance alternative to GitHub, which has faced recent strain. The platform has experienced several significant outages recently, including one in August that lasted nearly eight hours. To handle the load, GitHub is currently moving its data from its own centers to Microsoft’s Azure cloud.
Entire claims its new infrastructure is built for much higher throughput than its competitor. Based on the company's own benchmarks, the service can handle up to 89 times as many code pushes per second as GitHub. This is a critical metric for companies trying to manage thousands of automated updates happening simultaneously.
The company is currently fully remote and employs 50 people. It already allows developers to host private code repositories in the U.S., Europe, India, and Australia. While it currently focuses on these regions, the company has public repositories and self-hosting on its future roadmap.
Integration and competition
Entire is not the only company rethinking how code is hosted for AI. The AI coding company Cursor recently launched its own hosting service called Origin. Additionally, Anthropic has described plans to build its own source control system as its daily merged code changes grew from 2,500 in May to over 30,000 in September.
To help developers move away from GitHub Actions, Entire is partnering with Buildkite and Depot. These partnerships provide the necessary build and test pipelines for teams switching to the new platform. Developers currently using GitHub can still mirror their repositories to Entire, but the company is also encouraging a full migration.
Dohmke previously stated that code review has always been a bottleneck in software companies. He noted that developers often have to wait for a specific person who knows what to look for to approve their work. Entire's goal is to remove that human bottleneck by using a fleet of AI agents to do the heavy lifting of evaluation.
The roadmap ahead
The launch of Entire represents a shift toward a specialized infrastructure for the AI-native developer. By focusing on high-speed pushes and automated scoring, the platform seeks to solve the 'bottleneck' problem that Dohmke identified during his time at GitHub. It moves the human role from 'reviewer' to 'approver' of AI-generated work.
As more companies adopt AI agents to write code, the demand for specialized tools like Entire will likely increase. The company's ability to handle massive scale while providing context through Continuous Memory will be a key differentiator. It aims to provide a smoother experience than simply mirroring existing repositories on a faster network.
For now, the platform is establishing its footprint in major global markets. As it grows, it will need to prove that AI-driven scoring can maintain the same level of security and reliability as human review. The success of Entire may determine whether the industry moves toward a fully automated code shipping pipeline.
